Ancient villages and artistic treasures, sheer cliffs and gathering houses gazing towards the blueness of the sea, marine landscapes enriched by olive tree greenness, the colour of agaves and lemons, prickly pears and other terrace-cultivated fruits. These is the Cinque Terre area (a stripe of coast in the province of La Spezia), a landscape that has inspired so many Italian poets.
A fairytale feeling pervades, in any case centuries removed from the hubbub and bustle of city life.
Narrow ways and tracks, often featuring large steps that start from the sea and climb up to the low hills, whence the sea’s hue is yet more intense.
They are an ideal and truly fun place for lovers of long walks with his or her lover. Nature-drenched trails, with continuous panoramic views onto the sea, vary in length and difficulty (from 20 minutes to more than five-hour walks to go from the first to the last of the five villages).
