Chic holidays, between orange and lemon groves
Baths of light, of water and silence at Hotel Santa Caterina in Amalfi, in the Olympus of International hôtellerie, an ideal place for lovers on a honeymoon, as always a favourite with the world's jet set. On the rocks of the splendid Amalfi coast, ten minutes stroll away from Amalfi's little square, the hotel is surrounded by a lush terraced park, flowered with bougainvilleas, orange groves and lemon gardens. An old hotel, born at the beginning of the twentieth century, offering maximum comfort, care for details and cordiality. The location's interiors are intriguing, with intimate and sudden views onto the sea. The rooms and the suite are bright, all different, and characterised by Vietri majolica floors, with the colours of the sea and antique furniture from the early twentieth century. The suites have fascinating names, from «Follia amalfitana» (Amalfi folly), with round bed and water massage mini pool, to the chalet «Giulietta e Romeo», intimate refuge on two levels, with king size bed and a garden. From the hotel you can access the private beach and the salt water pool strolling on a flower path, leading to lifts excavated in the rock. Next to the pool, you can choose between the wood oven restaurant and a very equipped gym to keep in shape. At the main restaurant you will be served the chef's specialties: Santa Caterina's cuisine is so valued that it was often a guest of New York's Hotel Plaza. A wide "à la carte" selection includes high tradition recipes with dishes of rare delicacy, such as lemon "tagliolini", filet mignon Amalfi, aubergine rolls, and among the exquisite desserts you cannot miss lemon scented cream puffs and sorbets. The price for a double room in Hotel Santa Caterina starts at € 245 per night. May.2002 Hotel Santa Caterina Amalfi Coast
