Pop impressions
Funded in 1987, Edra has grown rapidly, even on the International markets, for its innovative qualities, whether functional or formal, in its products. Its brilliant and aggressive elements and its strong presence have allowed it to take part in important shows in Italy and abroad (twice at New York’s MOMA) and furnish prestigious public and sales spaces. Its corporate philosophy, independent from style’s suggestions, has given fresh energy to Italian design. For the 2001 collection, presented at this year’s Salone del Mobile (Milan), Edra re-discovers desires of ecstasy and visual illusions. A collection of new pieces that are psychedelic visions of the involving new age print. Pink is the dominating colour as in the best pop tradition. Design finds once more the pleasure of daring, in shapes that become organic, in sizes that acquire importance, in colours that dare acid and iridescent hues. In the picture, the outlined armchair by Steven Blaess. Its sinuous shapes make it similar to a clover.
