Sun proof skin
Summer is coming and we are all getting ready to face the first sun with great enthusiasms. Careful though: the sun, albeit a precious alley of beauty and well-being, can turn into an enemy is some basic rules are unheeded. In the table below, you will find the 5 types of complexion and the maximum duration of exposure to the sun in the first few days.| Red hair | Very light complexion | 5/10min. | | Blonde hair | Light complexion | 10/20min. | | Brown hair | Medium/delicate complexion | 20/30min. | | Brown hair | Dark complexion | 30/40min. | | Black hair | Olive complexion | 60min. and more |
Not to follow these basic rules in the first 3/4 days of exposure means getting burnt for sure.
Another important rule is solar protection, which must be applied a few minutes before exposure (the best thing would be to spread the protection before leaving the house, so as to let it sink in completely into the first strata of the derma).
Always choose water-resistant products, especially if you're going to particularly hot areas. Water-resistant products have the prerogative of not having to be constantly reapplied (they retain liquids, owing to their oily texture) and they prolong their action even after many baths.
The protection factor must be proportional to the type of complexion: if you have a very light complexion (phototype 1), you will have to choose a high protection (20 for the body, 25 for the face). We take this opportunity to disprove the idea that a high protection factor does not favour tanning: it isn't true, it releases it slowly, avoid burns and sun rashes In the areas where we sweat more (chest and shoulders), spread the protection twice, it will protect you from the humidity effect.
After exposure to the sun it is good to use detergent products that are neutral and with little perfume, so as not to dry the epidermis. The products based on oats and coconut oil.
The last but not least point is after sun lotion: absolutely not to be forgotten.
The aftersun is not just moisturising and smoothing, but it especially prepares the epidermis for the next day's exposure, reinstating the right lipid degree, which has been lost during the day. Specific aftersuns need to be used, and not normal ones like the afterbath lotions (which do not contain the regenerating active principles).
There are various textures in commerce: cream - suitable for phototypes 1/2; lotions - suitable for phototypes 3/4 gel - suitable for phototypes 5, being slightly dryer.
