Sunday 21st October in the square of the Municipality of Cremona a truly unusual event will take place: "Torrone in Art – Torrone mosaics", students of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the sweet products factory Sperlari, will make beautiful mosaics. The event has now reached its third edition and after sculptures and canvases made with torrone, Sperlari has had the idea of tying in the typical Cremonese sweet to another form of art: the mosaic.
Starting from 2.30 pm nine Academy students will be working with 1,5 mt x 1,1 mt bases to glue the plugs that will form the mosaic; materials used will be the multicoloured and multi-type wrapping paper of the torrone sticks, paper wrapping the Sperlari pralines and bags found in the supermarket.
The mosaic’s due completion time is 5.30 pm, a jury will name the winner, who will receive a scholarship.
The public can watch the event and follow the preparation and working stages tasting the delicious torrone that will be produced in the square with traditional machinery.
The "Torrone festival", organised by the Cremona Public Boards will last for a week – from the 15th to the 21st of October - and for this occasion Sperlari will open its doors to all those who will want to visit one of the “sweetest” factories in the world
