In the province of Cuneo many fairs, food festivals and parties filled with tasty choiceness are on schedule during the month of October.In Alba, from the 12th to the 18th, they will celebrate the "Fiera Nazionale del Tartufo" (National Truffle Fair ) and the "Mercato del Tartufo Bianco" (White Truffle Market). Fairs in the square, food and wine exhibition, tasting courses, all dedicated to the “precious” tuber.
In Grinzane Cavour, during the months of October and November, truffle tasting courses take place, organized by the "Centro Nazionale Studi Tartufo" (Truffle Studies National Centre).
The second week-end of October in Cuneo, gourmands are welcomed by the "Fiera del Marrone", with chestnut based specialties and productions typical of the area: cheese, salame, mushrooms, apples and honey. During that period one can access the “Officina del Dolce” and taste Cuneo’s chestnut cake, “cuneesi” with chestnuts and other deliciousness.
Chestnut is also honoured by "Castagnata" in Demonte, the "Sagra della Castagna" in Franosa Sottana. In this occasion the Prize "Castagna d’Oro" (Golden chestnut) is given to personalities from sport and showbusiness.
The 7th October, in Piozzo, the "Fiera della Zucca" (Pumpkin fair) offers visitors over 120 types of pumpkin – presented by forty or so exhibitors – of various shapes and sizes for the fun of adults and children.
