"The scene is very interesting, and stimulating: there is no longer a uniformity of diktat as there was up to 10 years ago". Born in Macerata, in 1963, Carlo Boccadoro has been a drummer, he has worked with Moni Ovadia, then they recorded a record together (Nigun), but especially he directs the contemporary ensemble, circulating his music with other Italian and Foreign composers.

"First there were the avant-garde diktats, then everybody had to play in consonant. There are no more dictatorships now, we are freer to do what we want and use the languages we like best".

My first work "Some like it Tango" (1993) is a postmodern work full of quotations, rock reminders. Seven years later I moved onto the world of jazz". Carlo Boccadoro made his debut as a composer in 1990 with a piece that is still performed today, an Octate of winds where he mixed Shubert with Cole Porter. "At the time I thought music was supposed to be pleasant – he says – today I think it should be interesting and this does not always coincide with pleasantness ". A prolific writer, Boccadoro prefers instrumental music to opera: he has written three operas and he means to write no more of them: "I am interested in musical theatre, but traditional opera does not interest me anymore.

I like instrumental music and having a band like the Sentieri selvaggi is a wonderful thing for me, it is a constant workshop. This music is destined by nature to a more limited audience; starting to write to have the same success as pop is idiotic, however many people try it today ".

In November Boccadoro tested himself with De André’s music, in the show "La Buona Novella". "It was an interesting experience, I faced the shape of song ".
