The fact that this is no mere concert can be gathered just before the beginning, when the last late spectators find, queuing up for a ticket, Lucio Dalla himself. It is not a pretence, since the Bologna singer (euros in hand) really buys a ticket: then, placidly, he goes to sit down in any row of the stalls. The surprise is remarkable, also because when the lights get low and the spotlights focus on the artist, he gets up and protests. Basically, he introduces himself to everyone (without a microphone) as Domenico Sputo, a man dealing with a serious existential crisis brought upon him by a woman. The gag goes on for five minutes, until on the maxi-screen on stage we see the photograph of Sabrina Ferilli (cause of his loss of reckoning) and the musical notes start the show, presented by Dalla as "the best of my life".
Dressed, as always, in Giorgio Armani clothes, the singer-songwriter delights his audience with a measured programme. A mix of new and old songs, without exaggerating with special effects. After the lively beginning (Siciliano in primis), the singer-songwriter brings back the hands of time playing "Com'č profondo il mare". Immediately after, tracks form his last album (Luna Matana) with the intermezzo of "Canzone" and before arriving at the "miti sportivi" department. A few weeks away from the World football championships, Dalla is sure of the calling into the National team of Roberto Baggio and the track dedicated to the player is followed by those written for Tazio Nuvolari and Ayrton Senna.
The excitement grows when the singer-songwriter returns to the piano and presents to the audience (one following the other) "Piazza Grande", "4/3/'43" "Anna e Marco". After a brief pause he starts with verve: "Kamikaze", "La strada e la stella", "Zingaro", "Washington", "Se io fossi un angelo" and "Ciao" the revolutions pick up as the music is alternated with words. Many issues are talked about before reaching the finale: suffused lights and space to the heart-rending notes of "Caruso". After the first round of applause the encore arrives (with Dalla "asking" permission to the public): pianoforte again for "L'anno che verrā", but on the last verse the singer changes key to perform a wonderful minimalist version of "Cara", whereas on the maxi screen the closing credits start to flow for a show that has lasted almost three hours.
