The amphitheatre...and the impertinent child

The great success of "Stato di necessità", the album that Carmen Consoli launched during the San Remo 2000 Festival with her song "In Bianco e Nero" and which has brought the artist on to a long tour, first with her electric band and then in various Italian theatres in acoustic version, in a more intimate and serene version.

"L'anfiteatro ... e la bambina impertinente" is a collection of the Sicilian singer and songwriter's most famous tracks, a sort of entirely 'live' "best of" with the contribution of the symphonic orchestra of the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina made up of 50 elements and directed by maestro Paolo Buonvino.

The project was organised in July 2001, in the context of the review "Taormina Arte" wanting to valorise and gain inspiration from the suggestions of a space, Taormina's Greek Amphitheatre, which is not just a physical space but is the place of memory and at the same time the cradle of new artistic projects.

From the event the CD as well as a DVD and a videotape we made, to bear witness of the particular visual beauty of the show, which had been thought of as a unique event, but in the end had two winter performances: one at "Santa Cecilia"'s Academy in Rome, one of the temples of world classical music, and the other at the Centro Sociale "Leoncavallo" in Milan, beating heart of European underground.

Success was huge especially in Milan, where almost nine thousand people pressed like sardines were able to hear their beloved and sing wiht her the most famous tracks of her repertoire: from "Amore di plastica" to "Parole di burro", from "Confusa e felice" to "L'ultimo bacio".

Carmen Consoli proves herself once more a top author and experimenter of Italian rock positioning herself as avant-garde and a t the same time obtaining huge success with the public: a public that follows her, loves her and knows all her lyrics off by heart. As well as Roccaforte (guitars) her adveture comprises of: Leandro Misuriello (bass and contrabass), Puccio Panettieri (drums and percussions), EszterNaygipal (violoncello) and Elena Majoni (violin), with the inseparable Maurizio Nicotra, sound engineer.
