The new Gruppo Grimaldi ship is called "La Superba", honouring the city of Genoa also known by that name, and it marks a turn in the history of cruise-ferries, the ships that have revolutionised the coasting trade uniting cruise ship comfort with passenger and car load capacity of the ferry.La Superba, is even more of a "cruise ship" but it's faster and has a greater capacity than any in its category: over 200 metres long, 11 decks and a capacity of 3000 passengers. All this at a cruise speed that can reach 30 knots.
Among structures available to passengers, 2 first class restaurants and a self service cafeteria, a night club (under the stars, the highest spot in the whole Ship), a casino and a cinema and conference hall, a mall, a party hall and a children's room (with Club dei Ragazzi service, that is personnel assistance throughout the whole duration of the crossing).
The lido deck deserves a special mention, with its pool, a fully equipped gym, a beauty centre, a massage hall, tanning centre, various Jacuzzi.
All furnishings and finishing follow, albeit respecting tradition, the most modern architectonic trends. There is a wide use of precious materials: polychrome marble, brass, rare wood, natural onyxes.
567 passenger cabins, among which 31 double suites and 6 Presidential suites with private balcony and Jacuzzi bathtub. 940 reclining armchairs, divided between the Sala Auditorium and the armchair halls.
La Superba is a safe ship for passengers and the environment alike: a control central ensures safety, propelling, navigation. The Ship only dumps at sea widely processed waste; untreatable waste is sent to containers that are then disposed of by specialised companies.
