Sergio, who works in a supermarket, is in a relationship with Angela, a Spanish woman living in taly. They're expecting a baby, whom they know is detained to die, and decide to keep him. Night of torment at the baby's bedside alternated to a parallel investigation, on the suicide of a girl Sergio knows a day before her death. This, in a nutshell, the plot of «L'amore imperfetto», with Enrico Lo Verso and Marta Belaustengui, and directed by Giovanni Davide Maderna. For this film, Maderna, already the author of «Questo è il giardino», got inspiration from the news: from this «a film was born that has a component of reaction compared to how the characters of a true story, similar to the one told in the film, were considered by the mass media».
A film that despite the difficult subject, proposes itself in a positive way: «it is a story of absolute love, where all the characters love but nobody is happy, nobody can feel the joys love normally can give», Enrico Lo Verso, who plays Sergio in the film, explains.
Marta Belaustengui is Angela, the mum, thoroughly religious and determined to keep the baby, also in the memory of a miracle that took place centuries before in Calanda, her city of origin, in Spain. «This film tells the story of a choice - continues Lo Verso - It's the mother's religious strength that drive sit all: Sergio follows Angela out of love. But, once the decision is made, they face all difficulties together ».
A gentle film, which Maderna maintains having filmed without any specific models, to respect the reality of the facts. A film that makes you think, on how daily life changes when illness and the thought of death - in this case, of a newborn son - invade your existence. Which imposes a rethinking about the meaning of life and death...is death really the limit, the imperfection of the human condition?
