The Regional Park of Mount Conero is an must-do destination for anybody wanting to discover the natural beauties of the Marche region; with its ever so varied landscapes, its colours and its sea it is one of the better kept places on the whole Adriatic coast. The "main" entry to the Park is in Sirolo, at the Visits Centre. Here you can find the guides to the Park (Centre of Environmental Education) and thus plan excursions and tours.
The Conero Park was established in 1987 and covers almost 6 thousand hectares of territory; it is overlooked by the Mount Conero, its sides covered in Mediterranean bush on the north side, and pine woods on the west side.
A landscape of woods and drops of great effect, pinpointed by important artistic and historical evidence, such as the Napoleonic blockhouse or Benedictine or Franciscan monasteries.
From Sirolo, a wonderful medieval village straight onto the sea, one of the better know trails brings to the "Wolf Pass", which touches splendid beaches just above the rocks falling sheer to the sea; in Sirolo you can also find the best of the "Conero Red" production, a renown Doc wine of the area.
Recently established, a circuit leads you to see the cellars of the production companies, with tastings included. Near Sirolo you also find Numana, an inspiring town on the sea which for a few years has known an important tourist development owing to the rebuilding of the little harbour.
The colours and the transparencies of the sea in Numana share little with the stereotyped image of the Adriatic; a clean and transparent sea, with green and blue reflections, with cared for and equipped beaches far from the "Rimini model".
