Among the others two that stand out are definitely two "art children" like Marco Morandi and Giacomo Celentano. Whereas for Celentano this is the first time, Marco Morandi had already taken part in a past edition with the "Percentonetto".

Then there are the other bands. Among the "Plastico" we find two students of Mogol's C.E.T., whereas the "La Sintesi " are part of the independent label Mescal, the same recording house of Subsonica and Modena City Ramblers .

To represent Neapolitan-style melodic song we have Gianni Fiorellino. The Giuliodorme return with "Odore"; they had been disqualified in '97 with Max Gazzè as well as Daniele Vit.

The 'young' section of the Festival was the launching pad of the majority of established Italian artists of the last generation. Artists such as Laura Pausini, Giorgia, Andrea Bocelli, Alex Britti, on to Eros Ramazzotti, winner of the event in 1984,  have had their debut on the stage of the Ariston.

This year a strong presence is seen for bands, there are eight of them, demonstrating that young bands in Italy are spreading and having us hope well for future festivals. According to the rules the sixteen must have already published at least a single, but for the moment nothing has yet reached the ears of the larger audience.
