The 52nd edition of the Sanremo festival will open on Tuesday 5th of March  2002 and in the first evening we will see the performance of the 20 Big competing, with voting done by the Public Opinion Jury. At the end of the evening the temporary chart will be made known, votes not shown.

Wednesday 6th March it's the Young's turn, they will perform 8 at a time with 10 'champions' and they will all be subjected to the judgement of the Public Opinion Jury, whose partial charts - votes will continue not being shown - will be announced at the end of the evening, a moment in which the first three 'young' with the lowest score will be turned down.

Thursday 7th of March it will be the turn of the other 8 'young' and 10 'big' with the same voting system of the previous evening which will see another 3 'young' being turned down.

Friday 8th March is the evening of the final challenge between the 'young', the ten 'new offers' left will confront each other on the Ariston stage while their more famous colleagues will allow themselves a day of rest. Differently from the other evenings, voting will be done by a so called Quality Jury whose visible vote of the single components will be added up to that of the Public Opinion Jury. At the end of their performance the singers will know of the two single charts, the sum of which, not including the votes of the previous evenings, will give the final chart and the winner of the Young Offers .

Saturday 9th of March the 'finalissima' will be held which will select the "Queen" song of the year, here the 20 'Champions', armed with their songs, will be challenging each other throughout the evening. In this case the Jury of Quality is not used, the voting is down only by the Public Opinion Jury and the votes of the previous evenings will be summed to those obtained the last evening. The prize will be given both to the singer and the author of the song.
