In an area about ten kilometres wide around Lonigo there are some among the most famous Veneto Villas. Starting from the 1400's, the beauty of the landscape, the ease of reaching them from Venice by water or land, the nearness to Vicenza, have led many families to choose this area to build their splendid dwellings.Architects such as Andrea Palladio, Michele Sanmicheli, Vincenzo Scamozzi, Antonio Pizzocaro, Giorgio Massari, Francesco Muttoni, "signed them", artists such as Paolo Veronese, Giambattista Zelotti, Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo, Alessandro Maganza, Bernardino India, Anselmo Canera, Louis Dorigny, Lorenzo Rubini, Bartolomeo Ridofli, embellished them, basically the best to create the culture of "civilization in villa".
In Lonigo, an initiative of I.R.V.V. and the municipal Administration, organises within the historical halls of Palazzo Pisani the exhibition "Ville Venete nel Territorio Vicentino" which is a spectacular sequence of photographs on the Villas of the territory.
The exhibit can be the starting point of the trail through sixteen villas of the "Basso Vicentino": starting from Villa Valmarana "Ai Nani", onto Villa Almerico, Capra also called "La Rotonda", Villa Trento Carli, Villa Pigafetta, Villa Godi called "Il Castello", Villa Repeta, Villa Saraceno, Villa Saraceno called "Delle Trombe", Villa Barbarigo, Villa Pojana, Villa Fracanzan Piovene, Villa Pisani, Villa Pisani "La Rocca", Villa Da Porto detta "La Favorita", Villa Cordellina and, finally, Villa Valmarana Morosini.
