The process of modernisation of China, its immense market, the impressive development of the Chinese society, is more and more appetising to Italian companies. The Institute for Foreign Trade has therefore prepared a thick schedule of promotional activities in China, to reinvigorate the trading channels started and to better present the quality of Italian exports, concentrating on some excellency "Made in Italy" sectors such as clothing, home system and alimentary products.A series of events and meetings until the end of the year have already been put on the calendar in Shanghai, Canton, Taipei and Pecking; seminars and information courses, support actions for textiles and jewellery, eyeglasses and cosmetics. A true “hot autumn” of promotions and initiatives.
Figures, after all, speak clearly; in this year’s first semester Italian exports in China have increase by 36% on an annual basis, amounting to 1,8 million dollars. Italy has lost no market shares, on the contrary, it has returned to being competitive becoming China’s fifth European trading partner, and sixteenth in the world.
The most reassuring signal comes from the type of exports; items in the traditional textile and machinery sectors remain strong, but also Italian consumer goods are ever more on request from the Peking’s wealthier citizens.
