Sport, nature and gastronomy: these the «bearing» topics of the new offer by the Wine and Flavours Road Consortium of the Scandiano and Canossa Hills. Proposed itineraries wind through the beautiful hills of the Reggiano area, discovering a country made of history, art and tradition, but also of products for true gourmets.You cycle through farms and fir woods, through cellars and holiday farms, restaurants and traditional shops, tasting the best of Emilia's cuisine and the productive wisdom of these people.
A prize for the fatigue of the cycling, the stops in «gourmandise» offer tastings of fizzy Lambrusco and «malvasie», of the famous balsamic vinegar matured in barrels of oak, mulberry, chestnut and juniper; tastes of hams, salamis and cheeses from plains and mountains, such as the Culatello di Canossa, the Parmigiano Reggiano, coppa. Also, famous dishes like braised meat and tortelli d'erbetta, mushroom and truffle tagliatelle.
Infinite occasions to enrich the bicycle tours, admiring castles and fortresses, adding visits to Canossa or Quattro Castella. With the proposals «Insoliti viaggi italiani» (Unusual Italian travels) you can alternate bicycle ones with bus rides, or by car, by motorbike, on horseback, in a an offer that includes visits to farms, laboratories of taste in association with the Italian Sommelier Association, dinners and lunches with traditional menus, horseback itineraries, cooking courses.
The itineraries are five, in five dates, one for each month from April to September:
Itinerary 1, 14 April: "Roads, parks and trails through the Palazzi Ducali Estensi" Departures from Piazza Prampolini (RE).
Itinerary 2, 1° May, "Harmonious countryside of the Val d'Enza". Departures from Cavriago.
Itinerary 3, 16 June, "Landscapes and nature between Calanchi and Gessi Messiniani". Departure from Albinea.
Itinerary 4, 7 July, "The Lands of the Great Countess Matilde". Departure from Quattro Castella.
Itinerary 5, 8 September, "Waterways in the feuds of the Boiardo". Departure from Scandiano.
