Giugiaro Design, which every year designs hundreds of products for the most varied fields in the market - product, transport, architecture, graphic & corporate image, design-à-porter - ventures into the projecting of a leisure park in the South of Italy.
The Park will raise in Puglia before 2003 near the municipality of Conversano, three kilometres form the sea, between Bari and Monopoli. The highly technological and innovative project covers a vast area of 43 hectares, distinguished in four thematic areas. The name of the park - "Elementa" - refers to the four natural elements that become the dominating themes of the attractions developed by the Giugiaro Design. Water, air, earth and fire are the main players in a journey that projects the visitor into the past and the future.
A foot path and a monorail link the various worlds characterised by a strict connection between the attractions and the dominating natural element.
In the "Fire", it is possible to cross the Dantesque inferno; the prehistoric world, with its dinosaurs, is re-created in the "Earth" area; "Air" is associated to the idea of Space, and hosts the futuristic world of androids; the wonders of the submerged world become accessible owing to the monorail, which passes through the "Water" area. The latter section also houses a spectacular jellyfish-shaped floating restaurant.
It has been estimated that "Elementa", borne of the synergy of Giugiaro Design with the constructor Fimco di Noci (Ba), will attract about half a million visitors a year. The Park will remain active also during the winter months, with its multi-hall cinema, thematic shops, and of a traditional restaurant obtained from a farm.
