In Palazzo Reale, the 17th of October the exhibition planned by the Municipality of Milan (Culture, Museums and Exhibitions department) opened, called "Dalla Scapigliatura al Futurismo".Managed by Flavio Caroli – scientific manager of exhibition activities in Palazzo Reale - and by Ada Masoero , will remain open until the 17th of February 2002.
The exhibition covers a completely Lombardy path, going through the intense season of transformation and changes experienced by Milan in the period that goes from the second half of the nineteenth century to the end of the first world war.
The interpretation line follows a historical-artistic connotation and re-interprets, through the exhibit of about a hundred works, the decades between 1860 and 1918 when the Lombardy capital was subject to significant changes from a social, financial, town-planning and cultural point of view.
It starts from the "Scapigliatura", passing through the "Divisionism" and arriving at the "Futurism"; these are the sections on display.
Among the "Scapigliati" on display are: Tranquillo Cremona, "Amore Materno" and "Ritratto di Maria Marozzi" ; Filippo Carcano, "Sul Mottarone"; il Piccio, "Fuga in Egitto"; Luigi Conconi, "In Giardino"; Medardo Rosso, "Bambino ebreo".
The section dedicated to the "Divisionismo" opens with five works by Giovanni Segantini, two by Carlo Fornara, four by Angelo Morbelli and also, Emilio Longoni and Gaetano Previati.
The latter, with Giacomo Balla, was the "maestro" of Milanese futurists.
The founding "fathers" of the new movement: Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carrà, Luigi Russolo, Gino Severini and Giacomo Balla make their first appearance as divisionist artists; in Palazzo Reale works from both periods can be seen.
The exhibition is open every day from 9.30 am to 8.00 pm. Thursday from 9.30 am to 11.00 pm. The exhibition is closed on Mondays.
