  Calabria Logos
Cosenza saw the recent constitution of a cultural association which means to "rediscover" and "revaluate" popular traditions finding its root in Calabria's most authentic folklore. The Association, which takes the name of "Calabria Logos", has already carried out (and will continue to do so) a number of researches on the field, in which it has gathered a number of very precious statements from the every voice of the people belonging to the farmers world and the agro-pastoral one: a very substantial corpus which includes songs, tales, proverbs, guessing games, tongue twisters and even just music made with traditional Calabrian instruments, such as the reed-pipes, the barrel organ, the "beating" guitar etc.The tiring research work on the field also sees the re-elaboration of the collected data with the intention of giving life to a further stage of re-evaluation through the reciting and the singing, vehicles of spiritual, social and cultural growth. The "Calabria Logos" group also proposes a show titled "Seculu Brigante.....ovvero....Scene di vita popolare calabrese" written and directed by Carlo Grillo. "The work - Grillo explains - includes a repertoire of traditional songs enriched by music unheard before and where there is ample space dedicated to Calabria's author music ". Music is the all-round protagonist, sometimes entering with emphasis, others with sweetness, in those popular life scenes such as the meeting with the "calavrisella" and a young man, patron saints festivals, the harvest, the serenades and so on Here are the band members: Carlo Grillo, autohor and composer, on the scene he plays the role of singer-guitarist; Antonio Grillo, solo voice, Carlo Mercuri, flute and sax; Enzo Naccarato, accordion; Giovanni Reale, double bass, Checco Pallone, tambourine; Velia Ricciardi, solo and reciting voice; Elena Tosi, choir; Carmela Ciardullo, narrating voice.
