You will find it North of Chivasso, in the province of Turin, in the territory between the provinces of Biella and Vercelli (East), the Gran Paradiso (West) and Valle D'Aosta (North), Canavese is an area in Piemonte which has only recently been building up some renown.
This region features green hills, small lakes and water courses, and it is enriched by ancient historical relics and by a remarkable food and wine tradition. You can walk countless paths through vineyards and castles, cellars and restaurants, pastry shops and farm stays.
The trail we recommend winds out into the heart of the Canavese, among the vineyards of Erbaluce, the Castles and the Farm Businesses, producing a 'pearl of oenology', Caluso Passito.
Begin from Torre Canavese, touching some locations that are famous for their castles (as well as Torre, Aglié and San Giorgio), drive around Caluso, reaching the natural park of the Lago di Candia, passing by the castle of Mazzé. Go up the hill until the castle of Masino (Burial place of King Arduino), then descend to Azeglio and continue until Piverone.
The best season to follow this trail is certainly autumn, a season rich with colours and scents: the vines' leaves acquire warm hues of red and yellow, and the first cold crisp air cannot but make wine-tasting and the experience of gourmet specialities of this region more pleasant moments.
