From the beginning it was a degree course that was to distribute an idea of culture where the relationship between theory and practice of the Arts, Music and Show would branch out into open shapes and be suitable for a contemporary world. To do this it uses strong and innovative energies which have contributed to give professionalism to what used to be improvisation, in the showbusiness society.

In 1971 the Dams students were the 'alternative' ones, a little bizarre, regarded with suspicion, and the faculty was a sort of factory of 'damned artists', who arrived from the whole of Italy with the ambition to become actors, directors, musicians.

Today there are about 7500 people enrolled in this degree course where cultural life is extremely rich and tied into the city's and the nation's life.

Of four years duration, the Art, Music, Cinema and Theatre Discipline degree course has the use of 2 main centres dedicated to practical workshops, showbusiness and cultural promotion activities, the Cimes and "La soffitta", the former directed to music and open to all students of the Faculty and the latter dedicated mostly to the theatre and tied into the Dams degree course.
